I'm a BIM Coordinator - Architect who has been using Revit in innovative ways in large and medium companies since 2008.
A strong team player, I work efficiently to achieve project goals, controlling my own workflow and
liaising closely with structural engineers and sub-contractors to ensure that milestones are achieved throughout the course of a job from inception to completion.
BIM Coordinator role:
• Develop, implement, training, maintain the BIM Protocol and BIM Collaboration Procedures.
• Enforce the best modelling practices.
• Establish BIM Coordination workshops and report progress at the Project Design Team meetings.
• Ensure all 3rd part companies are in alignment with the BIM Protocol.
• Create and maintain a BIM Coordination Programme that is aligned with the Project Programme.
• Keep a record of BIM models and their status.
• Establish quality control procedures to check that all of the models are accurate, the level of detail is fit for purpose. Report the results for the Director.
• Identify and document clashes between different discipline models using clash detection software. (Navisworks, Glue 360)
• Ensure that each organisation has published version of the model for each significant milestone stage as identified in the BIM coordination Programme.
• Record and monitor shared data and relationships between models e.g. grids, floor levels, shared project coordinates.
• Exclusive responsibility and power to issue necessary instructions on BIM related issues.
• Co-ordinate hand over of model and data at the agreed milestones in the BIM Coordination Programme.
• In the event of the Project BIM Coordinator transferring to another person, provide all associated documents and fully brief incoming personnel on the protocols and history of the collaboration.
