Every winter, the ICEHOTEL in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, rises with brand new architecture and design. It is the world's first ice hotel. The hotel, including the chairs and beds, is constructed from snow and ice blocks taken from the nearby Torne River. Artists are invited to create different rooms and decorations made by ice. Besides bedrooms, there is a bar, with glasses made of ice and an ice chapel that is popular with marrying couples.

The Lumilinna SnowCastle in Kemi, Finland is the biggest snow fort in the world. It opens from late January through mid April each year, featuring different architecture each year. The Snow Castle includes a hotel with 18 regular rooms, family rooms for groups up to five, and a honeymoon suite. The temperature hovers at a constant 23 degrees Fahrenheit. There's also an adventureland for kids, a theater, ice art gallery, restaurant and ice chapel.

It has evolved into the largest ice and snow festival in the world. Initially, participants in the festival were mainly Chinese, however it has since become an international festival and competition. The festival includes the world's biggest ice sculptures, many of which are illuminated by colored nights in the evening, providing a spectacular show.
