Well-crafted, affordable, modern style homes built by visionary developer Joseph Eichler on a large scale for the masses are still highly popular, even after 60 years.
Split-Level Eichler
This 1,770 square feet mid-century home is one of the rare split-level Eichlers ever built. A true mid-century home, it features a large balcony with unique and vintage aesthetics aplenty. Some features include a unique winding copper tubing that stretches the height of the staircase wall, classic floor-to-ceiling windows, and rich mahogany wall panels. The construction is interesting - with the roofline, frame, and staircase comprised of 2x8 lumber bolted together instead of the usual 2x4, creating a strong model.
Double Gable Eichler Remodel
The original Eichler was remodeled by Klopf Architects in 2014 and fitted with mid-century furniture. The key Eichler house concepts of maintaining the strong indoor-outdoor connection were retained. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame greenery views and fill the house with daylight. A larger kitchen was installed with modern appliances, ancillary spaces widened, a single plane kitchen island installed, built-in workstation against the wall, and a large open-space living area.
