Ripple Hotel-Qiandao Lake

Hangzhou is historically considered to be a very romantic place. Ripple Hotel pays homage to this beautiful town by using natural materials to mimic the historic and natural context. The ripple motif can be seen all throughout the space such as the weaving of thin bamboo strips or oars placed in rhythmic sequence. The curvature of furnishings very common to Chinese design, as culturally they tend to stay away from sharp rectilinear corners, weave in and out within spaces fluidly.

Nashare Hotel

At first, this hotel may seem gimmicky with big rocks inside the hotel suites. However, once one realizes that the hotel is actually built around the natural setting, one would start respecting the nature of this design approach. Also, by designing and building the 12 rooms around these boulders, each room becomes uniquely different, creating its own identity, with each room having the view of the ocean.

Spa + Hotel La Romana

This austere hotel and spa uses local natural materials such as Marble Rojo Alicante, which is a local stone, to blend in with the surroundings. Inside, natural sunlight creates interesting and striking patterns through strategically punctured exterior wall with sun shading systems of linear pattern, making this place such a serene experience.

Honeymoon Private Island Presidential Suite

This hotel has only 3 villas inside and is designed to make it seem as if they are floating on the ocean with the blurring edge line of where the infinity pool and ocean blend in from certain angles. Another striking illusion is the patterned walls and doors that create very intricate light and shadow effects during the day.

Carlota Hotel

This renovated hotel is cozy yet densely filled with richness in material, spatial organization, and programs. The architect left the original concrete structure from the 70's intact, visible in common areas and hotel rooms, as well as the original mirrored panel facade. The entry has been moved to the side of the building so that one can enter directly into the main courtyard, the busiest space of the hotel. The library also located around the courtyard is so densely rich with layers of different materials, continuing a cozy feeling.

Chetzeron Hotel

The grandness of this hotel is attributed to the fact that this building once was a cable car station with naturally tall windows which this renovated hotel utilized by placing the restaurant in this area to maximize views for the patrons dining here. Spectacular views from all 16 rooms exist because this hotel sits on one of the highest peaks in the Alps. The rugged exterior is matched with the cozy interiors with materials blending in with the surroundings with mixtures of stone and oak.
