This unusual co-working office space is the result of an equally unusual renovation; the building started its life as a mall, filled with leisure and retail spaces at a massive scale. Offices compartmentalize spaces, while shopping malls unify spaces; the architectural firm, AIM, favors bold colors, while OMA, the client, favors white clean surfaces- the goal was to unify all these contrasting concepts and translate them into architecture.
They reprogrammed the existing building by imagining the office system inside it as a community, treating the building like a small-scale city with the needs of breathing spaces, walking spaces, and private spaces, among others; all of this while turning the existent building's monumental areas into more human-scaled spaces.
