This permanent Elizabethan theater is the first of its kind in France; consisting of 388 seats and the only full trust stage in the country, this wooden/bamboo structure is placed on the grounds of the Chateau d'Hardelot- which was once a getaway for Charles Dickens- home to the Centre Culturel de l'Entente Cordial, which hosts an annual festival celebrating cultural ties with the British.
The project is one of the greenest cultural buildings in France, with its use of renewable materials such as bamboo and wood, passive ventilation system and low energy consumption. Its wooden design aims to blend in with its natural surroundings.
