Carmel Place (NYC's First Micro-Apartment Tower) - Interior/Kitchen/Dining Area

Carmel Place is New York City's first micro-apartment tower by NArchitects. Located in Manhattan's Kips Bay neighborhood, it was recently completed in early 2016. Carmel Place is a 55-unit modular, micro-unit residential building that provides a new paradigm for cities with affordable housing issues. Each unit ranges in size from 250 to 370 square feet. The narrow building is made up of four thin, stepped volumes clad in varying shades of grey bricks. These efficient units feature well-lit living/sleeping quarters, with sliding glass doors, Juliet balconies and ceiling heights over 9 feet. Furnished units include built in wall system and pieces such as a sofa that converts to a bed, vertical storage large enough for a surfboard, and an adjustable height coffee table that can become a working desk.
