Hathor better known to ancient Egyptians as Het-Heru is a warrior Goddess, Divine Mother-type deity. She is represented as a woman with bull horns and a solar-disc between them. She is worshipped on Earth as the Holy White Cow. The temple of Hathor at Dendera is a fantastic example of devotional architecture.
The main temple has an imposing facade constructed with a pony wall divided by six massive Het-Heru-headed columns and a huge curved cornice with a winged solar-disc over the entrance. Hypostyle hall which lies directly behind the entry contains a forest of eighteen Het-Heru columns similar to those in the facade. The ceiling of the first hypostyle hall is divided into bands of well-preserved astronomical figures featuring the Goddess Nut, vultures and winged solar-discs. Also included are the Roman zodiac signs. The walls are decorated with scenes of Roman emperors as pharaohs making offerings to Het-Heru. When in Egypt, I guess, you do as Egyptians.
