The architect of the design has cited La Sainte-Chapelle and Chartres Cathedral as some of his inspirations for the development of the chapel. One hundred tetrahedrons weighing five tons each make up the structure of this chapel that serves cadets of all denominations.
The most obvious motif in the building made entirely of light and space is it's resemblance to the wings of a fighter jet. Although the critics may have downplayed the aesthetic of this structure at its' unveiling in 1963, it is easy to understand why the building captures imaginations.
