The days of offices filled with stuffy cubicles and popcorn ceilings are (mostly) long gone. Today, workspaces provide an opportunity for companies to show their creative flair and impress prospective employees with flashy designs and impressive perks (can you say napping pods?).
Few fields are as cutting edge as the technology industry, so it's only right that tech companies boast some of the most jaw-dropping designs and innovative architecture.
From 100-year-old structures to living walls and open floor plans, take a look at some of our favorite offices and get inspired to work differently.
Airbnb's Ultra Chic Interiors
Airbnb
Airbnb is known for providing exceptional living experiences, and their San Francisco headquarters is no different. This 96-year-old warehouse building had a major facelift to create a modern, functional office space with dedicated nap zones that blur the line between workspace and relaxation.
What's trendier in tech than open working spaces? Having the world's biggest open working space. Designed by Frank Gehry, Facebook's Menlo Park headquarters stretches 430K square feet and includes a 9-acre green roof, a ball pit room, and over 100k native plans which help to lower heating and cooling costs.
Coming in at 90 stories and standing 1280 ft, 30 Hudson Yard will be taller than the already existing 10 Hudson Yards building. Once completed, the two skyscrapers will be connected by a common shared space featuring restaurants and stores. The tower will feature the highest outdoor observation deck in NYC and will host several communication headquarters related to Time Warner, including CNN and HBO.
Consumer analytics company 84.51's downtown Cincinnati office stayed true to the city's industrial roots, celebrating its brewing history by using pressed-tin ceiling tile in their lounge. The building's five workspace levels are connected via two full-height light canyons, shortening travel time and inspiring coworker collaboration.
Built from dilapidated hangars at an old Naval Shipyard, Urban Outfitters' Corporate HQ is a pristine example of innovative design that celebrates priceless historical essence. Dubbed "The Yard", the transformation process took two years and resulted in a creative community housing the company's four major brands.
Great work space designs help people feel more creative, connected, and engaged in their work. In turn, organizations are seeing greater productivity, efficiency, and innovation.
