Evocative of a spinning coin, Dime is a dynamic cabinet with a signature Splinter Works twist of illusion and intrigue. The individual curved segments, glide and shuffle to reveal its function as a sommelier table.
When closed it has a poetic repetition of form, softened by the texture of American walnut. Upon opening, the curved segments have a pleasing resistance, each contracting evenly until fully opened.
The edges of the walnut leaves are lined in ripple sycamore veneer which highlights their shape. The playful form allows the user to hide or reveal the countertop and wine storage. It is a subtle, yet delightfully tactile piece, that would fit equally well into a contemporary or more traditional interior setting.
