  • The Tallest Building in Europe is the Mercury City Tower for Now
The Mercury City Tower may be the new tallest building in Europe but the Federation Tower, also in Russia, is expected in 2013 to overtake the title of the tallest building in Europe. It will also be the tallest concrete tower in the world!



Some Interesting Facts

  • The Mercury City Tower is expected to be over 338 meters


  • The Federation Tower is expected to reach 365 meters, but the height of the spire is hoped to reach 506 meters


  • The Federation Tower is actually complex of skyscrapers in the Moscow International Business Center, so the tallest expected Tower is actually named the East Tower


  • The Federation Tower has had some upheavals during its time, with work stopping for a while and a fire breaking out


  • Thornton Tomasetti are the engineers for the Federation Tower and have used BIM




Hopefully we will get to hear more about how BIM helped design and build this skyscraper, it would be a great case study!
