At BIMstop we are big believers in involving the Building Information Modeling (BIM) community in everything we do. BIM is about collaboration and streamlining workflows, this puts the users at the centre of the process.
As we build BIMstop.com into the best possible experience we can for BIM users around the globe, a big part of this has been combining manufacturer specific BIM files (or objects) with community uploads. We feel this allows for the best of both worlds and helps BIM users to always find what they are looking for.
However not all community uploads are created equal! This is seen on all platforms from youtube to the iPhone app store. So rather than try and draw a line in the sand (after all, different BIM users and offices have different needs), we've come up with an easy way to identify what has been built to meet standards or manufacturer certified and what is a third party community upload.
As some offices and architects we talk to have very strict use policies on what their employees can download and use in their BIM projects (such as a Revit car family), this should allow them to easily and quickly spot what they can and can't use.
The two badges you will now see live on BIMstop are:
This BIM object has been confirmed and approved by BIMstop as a real product from a real manufacturer.
This BIM object is a third party upload by a registered BIMstop community member.
