The recently unveiled RoomScan is an app for mobile phones and tablet devices, using position sensors to create floor plans for any room. Directions for use are simplified, as the app provides illustrated and voice-enhanced instructions.
After downloading the app, start by touching the device to a wall, and then repeating the process until every wall in the room has been marked. The app then draws a floor plan based on data collected. Throughout the process, RoomScan guides by voice, asking users to do anything from movement repetition, to picking up the pace if movement from one wall to another is too slow.
The app caters to specific needs, as it features settings in both US and metric measurements. Finished floor plans can be emailed directly after they are generated, and users that wish to upgrade to the $4.99 version receive designs with more details, and the ability to connect rooms together.
