BIM and the Panama Canal

  • BIM and the Panama Canal
Here's a great article I discovered on constructiondigital.com (link) on the latest redevelopment of the Panama Canal. The interview is with Nick Pansic, deputy design engineer, and Michael Newberry, design engineer, of MWH Global, one of only two U.S. firms involved in Panama Canal expansion efforts.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D visualization has been used extensively throughout the project. It is really useful to some how the technologies are helping at a project of this scale.

Below MWH President and COO Alan Krause provides an overview of the design of the Third Set of Locks project of the Panama Canal Expansion. The Third Set of Locks will double the Canal's capacity!
