I was pretty excited last week when Apple announce they were building a new campus. They had bought a large amount of land from HP late last year, so it was interesting to see what they were going to be building.
They've now annouce that it is going to be a new "space ship" looking headquarters, set to hold 12,000+ people and has been designed by none other than Sir Norman Foster of Foster + Partners. I was at Foster + Partner's London office about a month ago and I think this is a match made in heaven.
We'll be keeping a close eye on the building's construction so stay tuned. Just look at it below, Job's himself said it was set to be "the best office building in the world".
Interesting to also note that Foster + Partners use Bentley Architecture as their BIM (building information modeling) software of choice, running on PC's! So it will be interesting to see what Apple can change there.
Bentley Architecture is used by a large number of large practices world wide so it will be great to see how it handles this size of building, which will no doubt involve 1000s of technicians and consultants.
