Was Acad your first system? Your question seems to indicate that changing units is a big deal, which it was in Acad. If you wanted decimals of a foot or metric units you had to literally change the size of the data so that units would read correctly.
In Revit, units do not change the size of anything. If you have a 2 x 2 ceiling tile, if you set units to inches, you get 24 x 24. If you set to millimeters, you get 609 x 609. Why should a ceiling tile change size, just because you are using a meter stick instead of a yard stick? I regularly switch to inches when working with millwork. Just remember to switch back to ft/in when you're done. Revit saves the unit setting with the file. Your team will get a surprise when they reload.
